Friends of the Weiser River Trail (FWRT) is a private, non-profit, organization formed to convert the old Pacific and Idaho Northern (PIN) railroad grade from Weiser, Idaho, to Rubicon (near New Meadows, ID) into a trail for public recreation. The 84-mile long trail passes through the towns of Midvale, Cambridge, and Council. www.weiserrivertrail.org

The Slocan Valley Rail Trail is a recreational facility preserving an important part of the Slocan Valley heritage. Visitors can experience a sense of nature and history along the rail trail, including unique riverside scenery in BC’s West Kootenay region. The 50 km section of former Canadian Pacific Railway line has been developed by Tourism BC as part of the Spirit of 2010 Trail network. The Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes bike path follows the Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way from Mullan, a mountain mining town near the Montana border, to Plummer, a town on the prairie near the Washington border.
